NOTES REGARDING THE RCSEZYx.LIB & RCSEZYx.PCB FILES: These files, along with the file 3993S.PCB, have very kindly been prepared by Bob Barnes of RCS Radio. They are designed to help readers in the use of Protel's Easytrax or Autotrax PCB CAD packages, so that you can produce files which will make up into high quality PC boards -- boards which can be etched and drilled with a minimum of trouble, and perform as expected. RCSEZY1.LIB and RCSEZY2.LIB are libraries of modified and enhanced component symbols, which are suggested as an alternative to the TRAXSTD.LIB or EASYSTD.LIB files supplied by Protel. We suggest that you copy it onto your hard disk, and then make your own working copy of it with a different filename (e.g., MYCOMP.LIB). Then if you modify the components in your working copy, these mods won't be lost if you ever load in a later version of the RCSEZYx.LIB files... RCSEZY1A/B.PCB and RCSEZY2A/B are simply "dummy" PCB files showing all of the component symbols in the RCSEZY1.LIB and RCSEZY2.LIB library files. If you print them out via EASYPLOT or TRAXPLOT, you then have a handy set of A4-sized reference charts that show what's in each library. Note that Autotrax users will need to convert the Easytrax PCB files using Protel's `easyauto' utility. Failing that, you can try changing the first line of the Easytrax PCB file from `PCB FILE 5' to `PCB FILE 4', using (say) DOS edit. Similarly, the file 3993S.PCB is another dummy PCB file which can be loaded in and printed out to produce a Quick Reference sheet, giving a set of hints and suggestions for good PCB design. This is in Autotrax format, but again, you can try editing the first line of the file if you only have Easytrax - in this case, change `PCB FILE 4' to `PCB FILE 5'. Note that this is not the recommended method for converting between Protel's PCB file formats, but it appears to work well... Our thanks to RCS Radio for making these files available. Further assistance with PCB design -- and of course a full service for turning a CAD file into etched and drilled PCB's, if you need it -- is available from RCS Radio at 651 Forest Road, Bexley NSW 2207; phone (02) 587 3491, or fax (02) 587 5385. RCS also stocks ready-made boards for virtually all EA and ETI projects, as well as for many other magazines. ENDS
